A cheesy dish full of calcium and vitamins with a crunchy topping

Ingredients

3 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes or Honey Crunch Corn Flakes cereal crushed to 3/4 cup
2 tablespoons margarine, melted
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pkg. (1 lb.) frozen carrots, cauliflower and broccoli mix
2 cups prepared cheese sauce (recipe below)
Cheese Sauce:
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1/2 lb. American cheese

3/4 cup vegetables with 2 Tablespoons cheese sauce

Directions:

In small bowl, combine Kellogg's Corn Flakes cereal, margarine and garlic powder. Set aside.

Cook vegetables according to package directions, until crisp-tender; drain thoroughly. Combine hot vegetables and cheese sauce, spread evenly in shallow 1-1/2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with cereal mixture.

Bake in 350 F. oven about 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated and cereal is golden brown.

Cheese Sauce preparation (yield 2 cups):

In 1-quart saucepan over low heat, melt margarine, stir in flour and salt until blended. Cook for 1 minute. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and thickens. Add cheese, stirring until cheese melts.
