The sweet caramel taste of the onion complements the beef perfectly
Yield: 4 servings
| For caramelized onions: | |||
| 2 | tablespoons | butter | |

| 2 | tablespoons | brown sugar | |
|
|
|||
| 2 | large onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings | ||

|
|||
|
|
|||
| 4 | steaks, T-bone, Porterhouse, Strip, Ribeye or Filet, cut 3/4-inch thick | ||

For onions:
Prepare the onions ahead of time or while the steaks are cooking. Melt butter in 10-inch skillet over medium hight heat. Cook onions in butter 8 to 9 minutes, stirring frequently, until transparent. Stir in brown sugar. Cook about 5 more minutes, stirring frequently until onions are caramel-colored and liquid is absorbed. Set aside keeping hot or immediately serve over grilled steaks.
For steaks:
Grill steaks over hot coals or preheated grill about 12 minutes per side for medium-rare to medium or until meat reaches desired doneness. Cover steaks with hot caramelized onions.
